Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods (born December 30, 1975) is an American professional golfer whose achievements to date rank him among the most successful golfers of all time. Currently the World No. 1, he was the highest-paid professional athlete in 2007, having earned an estimated $122 million from winnings and endorsements. According to Golf Digest, Woods made $769,440,709 from 1996 to 2007, and the magazine predicts that by 2010, Woods will become the world's first athlete to pass one billion dollars in earnings.

Woods has won fourteen professional major golf championships, the second highest of any male player, and 65 PGA Tour events, third all time. He has more career major wins and career PGA Tour wins than any other active golfer. He is the youngest player to achieve the career Grand Slam, and the youngest and fastest to win 50 tournaments on tour.

TIGER Woods is buying a four-hectare Florida waterfront estate for $54 million but is unlikely to be made welcome at the local golf club. Woods, is certainly the world's best golfer but it is unlikely that the ultra-exclusive Jupiter Island Golf Club will invite him to be a member.

Woods - who has won 10 major championships and has his sights set on Jack Nicklaus's 18 majors - will be able to play on the course, but only as a guest.
In the past he has practised on the idyllic course, on a barrier island bounded by the Indian River to the west, the Atlantic to the east, a wildlife refuge to the north and the Blowing Rocks Preserve to the south. The back nine wanders through a huge ornamental garden, with sweeping views of the river.

Also out of Woods's reach will be the club's 14 tennis courts, gym, saltwater pool, game-fishing facilities and its guesthouses and cottages along the ocean front and river.
Woods has had much better treatment at his previous home in Orlando, also in Florida. The Isleworth Country Club welcomed his membership and lengthened the course to accommodate his monster drives.

But on Jupiter Island, north of Miami, he will have to be content with all the lavish non-golfing facilities his new home provides. It may lack an accessible golf club but it is still right at the heart of what Forbes magazine calls "the world's most expensive zip code". Woods's neighbours will include singer Celine Dion and fellow golfers Nick Price and Greg Norman.

The property includes four houses - the main house, two houses for guests and a beach house - as well as two boat docks to accommodate his 47-metre yacht, Privacy. Woods intends to tear down the 13-year-old main house and replace it with something more suited to him and his wife, the former Elin Nordegren, whom he married last year. Woods met Ms Nordegren in 2003 when she was working as nanny for fellow pro golfer Jesper Parnevik, and his wife, Mia. The Parneviks may have had an influence on Woods purchase, as they live in Jupiter's Indian Hills. Apart from the new Florida residence, Woods also owns property in California, Wyoming and Sweden, his wife's home country. He is the world's highest-earning athlete. Last year he made $128 million in endorsements and prizemoney, earning $33 million from Nike alone.
